July 30, 2012 - TemboSocial to the Enterprise: Game On

TORONTO – July 30, 2012 – TemboSocial, a leading developer of social platforms for employee engagement is taking the lead by using game-based strategies to drive engagement on corporate web sites. A white paper called “Get In the Game: Unleash Winning Performance” by TemboSocial’s president Steven Green explains the power of “enterprise gamification” within organizations.

“Enterprise gamification takes elements from computer gaming and integrates them into business to encourage a desired behavior such as productivity or retention,” says Green. “This is more than a buzzword or a passing fad. The organizations we represent are looking at solid numbers showing employee engagement, talent development and business performance.”

TemboSocial integrates gamification elements in a number of its powerful social engagement solutions. A new offering, the Timed Poll, brings the challenge of gaming to internal conversations or external-facing promotional campaigns.

“People love the challenge of polls and quizzes,” says Green. “Over the years we have seen consistently high engagement rates using this format with both internal and outside audiences. The Timed Poll ups the ante by scoring participants based on the time it takes them to complete a poll. This way you can have high score winners and publicly visible leaderboards.”

Another TemboSocial product, The Hive, makes use of game elements like badges and levels. The Hive is a social software application that promotes peer-to-peer recognition in the workplace. Recognition is one of the key motivators for workplace performance. Within the environment of The Hive employees can earn badges and move up levels based on positive interactions with their coworkers.

“Gamification boosts employee performance by socially recognizing, and thus leveraging, progress,” says Green. “This creates the great ‘inner work life’ that differentiates a top-performing employee from one who is simply going through the motions.”

If there’s any question about the power of using game elements such as  instant feedback within the context of a social software environment,  consider the runaway popularity of social games like Farmville or Words with Friends. Role playing multi-user games like World of Warcraft have amassed a stunning 5.93 million years of total player time has been spent playing World of Warcraft – a game that has been online for just over a decade. With these levels of engagement, it’s little wonder that enterprise is stating to take notice.

June 27, 2012 - Lights, Camera… Interaction! TemboSocial teams with RBC to highlight emerging talent at the Toronto International Film Festival

TORONTO – June 27, 2012 – TemboSocial, a leading developer of social platforms for building conversational dialog, is partnering with Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), one of Canada’s largest financial institutions, to showcase emerging talent at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. RBC is an official sponsor of the festival, underwriting the Emerging Filmmakers Competition

RBC is an official sponsor of the festival, underwriting the Emerging Filmmakers Competition in which five finalists receive funding from RBC to create a short film. The top five films will be judged before the 2012 festival by online voters and an official jury of industry professionals.

Providing the infrastructure for the online voting is TemboSocial. Online visitors are encouraged to watch short films by each of the five finalists and then vote for a favorite. TemboSocial’s Poll platform makes it possible for RBC to embed rich media, collect visitor input and provide immediate feedback about voting results. Fans can vote on Facebook, at RBC or on the TIFF site.

RBC began using TemboSocial products in 2007 when the bank rolled out its Blue Water Project to inform the public and foster support for freshwater preservation. Initially the TemboSocial Poll was used to educate employees about the importance of freshwater stewardship. Subsequent polls were rolled out to the general public in a joint campaign between RBC, Discovery Channel and National Geographic where at least one of the polls remains active.

TemboSocial Polls go far beyond online surveys because they can be structured in a way that promotes dialog. The Poll can deliver rich media content as well as field multiple choice questions, giving it the ability to present highly engaging microcontent in a way that builds a strong connection with Poll participants.

In the case of the Toronto International Film Festival, participants are asked to watch each of five short films and then vote on them. In order for the voting to be fair, the platform needs to keep tabs on the voter to make sure that all films get a decent showing. TemboSocial made a few adaptations to the platform so that RBC could present their emerging filmmakers with an adequate showcase for their talents.

Voting is open until June 29 and each vote is entered in a contest to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

“Customization is all in a day’s work for us,” says Steven Green, president of TemboSocial. “We really take pride in our Conversation Consultants who frequently work behind the scenes with clients to ensure that every campaign goes off flawlessly. This is why clients like RBC keep coming back with new and exciting projects for us to handle.”

PRESS RELEASE – TORONTO, Canada  – PollStream Inc., a leading provider of interactive engagement and community-building solutions, has just released Poll in Facebook: a new module that enables its interactive Poll application to be published directly in Facebook.

The solution allows companies to integrate rich, multi-question polls (in any world language) right into their Facebook Pages. This gives clients the ability to leverage all the social networking features of Facebook to engage, segment and inform their target audience about their brand.

“Poll in Facebook allows marketers to connect with customers where they already are, rather than build micro-sites or send out emails that basically have the effect of a message in a bottle,” said PollStream Founder and CEO Steven Green.“What’s more, it allows marketers to multiply the reach of their message by taking advantage of Facebook’s native network effects.”

PollStream’s new release is the ideal solution for external marketers who are searching for an effective way to make their Facebook Pages more engaging and give fans a reason to visit more often. In essence, the software makes it easier for companies to share more information about their brand with a broad, worldwide audience. With Poll in Facebook, companies can:

•    Capitalize on Facebook’s powerful network effects like sharing and wall postings
•    View reports showing poll participation and all related activity such as posts, invites, views and engagement
•    Identify the most influential participants over time and intercept them with special offers or community status
•    Integrate the same polls running on their corporate site or on third-party media buys into their Facebook Pages

Poll in Facebook is the latest addition to the PollStream Social Media Platform, which allows companies to transform their existing Web presence into a dynamic conversation space. PollStream’s one-click, bridge-building solution allows marketing professionals to take advantage of the reach of social networking sites, creating ongoing conversations with a vast universe of people. It includes powerful reporting and publishing tools that show real-time engagement, geographic and influencer data. Additionally, PollStream offers publishing capability that enables clients to switch one live poll for another without having to make any changes to the sites where the poll in published—including Facebook.

The Poll and Poll in Facebook are just two elements of PollStream’s interactive community-building platform. Its offerings include Sparkplug, a collaborative idea market place; Comment Engine, which allows clients to add ratings and review functionality to their Website; and The Hive, which facilitates peer-to-peer recognition.
